If you see a pup that you are interested in adopting, please email us at and ask for an adoption application. All applicants must be 24 years of age and homeowner. Please note submitting an application does not guarantee an adoption. The adoption process consists of your completion of an adoption application, our review of the application and contacting relevant references & verifying the application information. If your application meets our initial requirements, we will contact you to discuss the dog further, and arrange a home visit.
Please note that our further due diligence will determine if your family is awarded the pup. We understand you are excited to meet our pups, but because we do not have a physical shelter and all our pups are in foster homes, we need to limit pet visitations to approved applicants only. The adoption process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks upon receipt of your application. If your application is completed and approved by FHDR, we will be happy to schedule your visit.
We request all members of the family to be present at the meet and greet, including your current dog(s), if you have one. Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment for our pups. When bringing a new pet into your family, everyone in the family should have a chance to spend time with the dog before adopting. It is important that everyone needs to agree that the pup is a good match.
When you meet a pup, FHDR will also determine if it's a match between your family and the pup. If it's a match, you are welcome to adopt the pup at that time. You are never obligated to adopt a pup from FHDR. Please note, FHDR reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone for any reason.
Our policies, like many rescue groups may seem a bit extreme, but we follow these policies because in our experience, its in the best interests of both the pup and the adopting family. When we've made exceptions to our policies in the past, more times than not it ended badly for both the adopting family and the pup. Thats not good for anyone. Our guidelines and policies have resulted in many, many happy families and pups, which is our end goal.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
